“A total of 365 reports were presented at the congress on various topics related to psychiatry and psychotherapy. I have attended seminars on the diagnosis and treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder, schizophrenia, mental disorders in pregnancy and the postnatal period, eating disorders, substance addiction and suicidal behaviour. I also participated in a workshop dedicated to psychotherapy for patients experiencing a life crisis. The conference was accompanied by a publishing exhibition, where I bought specialist literature”, — explains the Belarusian doctor.

He adds that one of the advantages of this conference was that, compared to other medical events of this kind, there were virtually no presentations sponsored by pharmaceutical companies. The mobility participant is planning to incorporate all of the new knowledge and techniques into post-graduate training courses for doctors and psychologists.

He adds that the event has already led to contacts with the director of the psychiatric hospital in Kassel and the director of the outpatient clinic at the Charité university psychiatric clinic. Negotiations are underway to organise joint research into the history of psychiatry and into autism spectrum disorders in adults.

The MOST+ project is a mobility programme promoting professional exchanges between Belarusians and their colleagues from EU countries. It is funded by the European Union and implemented by the Goethe-Institut.
